Time and again, the launch of the mega project in the Baden-Württemberg state capital was postponed. Now, from December 2026 trains are scheduled to stop at the new low station - but not all of them.
The old Stuttgart main station will also be served by trains in 2027. This is what the railway announced. However, ICE trains are scheduled to travel through the new low station as early as December 2026.
The railway announces the next delay in the Stuttgart 21 megaproject. Part of the regional traffic is scheduled to end in two years at the old head station. At another point, however, it seems to be going according to plan.
"The suffering of the passengers lasts longer, but it becomes more bearable: from December 2026 trains will finally stop at the new low station Stuttgart 21. But now the DB reports a further delay.
Stuttgart 21 is going into full operation later than planned. According to Deutsche Bahn, part of the regional transport will only use the new low station from mid-2027.
At the end of 2026, the new station will only be partially opened, the old station will be maintained until the middle of 2027. The railway will thus reduce the inconvenience for passengers, but it is also a defeat for the company.
