Sturbridge Hotel Guest Critically Injured in Shooting; DA Says Pregnant Suspect Dead After Shooting Herself
Sturbridge police and Massachusetts State Police responded to the Sturbridge Plaza Hotel at 400 Haynes Street shortly before 1:00 a.m. Thursday after reports of a shooting and vehicle crash.
Guest Stuart Mackelvie reported hearing gunshots before a woman drove an SUV into the hotel, shouting, 'Where are you?' as she fired shots into a first-floor room.
First responders transported one person with a gunshot wound to Harrington Hospital, while dispatch recordings indicated another individual was reported as 'DOA' at the scene.
The Worcester County District Attorney's Office is assisting the active investigation, and Sturbridge Police Chief Earl Dessert confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.
By 10:00 a.m. Thursday, police had cleared the scene and contractors began boarding up the damaged property, though authorities have yet to release further details.
