Passengers on an airplane experienced tense moments mid-flight due to strong winds that have been affecting Istanbul since Friday, January 2nd. The phenomenon caused jolts during the flight, leading to concern and nervousness among those on board, although no serious incidents were reported.
On Thursday, heavy storm gusts swept over Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport. A passenger plane set off for landing with a strong side wind, at the last moment the pilot pulled the plane back into the air.
The Istanbul Governorship has released the toll of the storm, which reached speeds of 90 kilometers per hour in the city. The storm caused 45 tree uprootings and 89 roof damage, and resulted in the cancellation of a total of 97 domestic and international flights at the city's two airports.
