Osisko Gold rallies on drilling results from new B.C. target area – Resource World Magazine
Osisko Gold Group Inc. [OGG-TSXV] shares rallied Wednesday after the company released assay results from a new greenfield target located within its broader Cariboo Gold Project in central British Columbia. Osisko Gold, which recently changed its name from Osisko Development Corp., said the latest diamond drilling results consist of 14 holes ( 6,463 metres) from a surface exploration program on the Prosperine regional greenfield target, which is located within the Cariboo Gold project boundary approximately 7.00 kilometres along strike from the Cariboo Gold deposit. The company said the results confirm the presence of an emerging gold mineralized system consisting of high-grade structures exhibiting similarities to those at the Cariboo Gold deposit that, together with broader zones of lower grade mineralization, may indicate the potential for open pit mining methods. Highlight intercepts include 95.93 g/t gold over 4.60 metres at 71 metres vertical depth (including 873.00 g/t gold over 0.50 metres), 5.46 g/t gold over 8.60 metres at 77 metres vertical depth, and 2.17 g/t gold over 14.45 metres at 431 metres vertical depth. The company said drilling of an additional 26,500 planned metres, initially with three rigs, is now resuming following a seasonal hiatus. The shares advanced on the news, rising 9.09% or 22 cents to $2.64. The shares currently trade in a 52-week range of $2.61 and $2.18. “We are encouraged by the initial results from the drill campaign at Prosperine, which highlight the potential for a significant new gold mineralized system of scale located only seven kilometres from the Cariboo Gold deposit,’’ said Osisko Gold President Chris Lodder. “To date, drilling has broadly tested an area measuring approximately 1.0 kilometres by 0.5 kilometres within a larger target area of 6.0 kilometres by 1.0 kilometre gold-in-soil rock anomaly,’’ he said. “For context, the currently defined Cariboo Gold deposit extends approximately 4.0 kilometres along strike by 0.5 kilometres in width, underscoring the exploration potential that remains to be tested at Prosperine.” The company’s latest news release contains assays from 14 diamond drill holes, totalling 6,463 metres with depths ranging from 36.0 to 734.3 metres. These drill holes were completed between February and May of 2026. All drill holes that reached their intended target depths encountered mineralization, providing a compelling basis for systematic follow-up drilling, the company said. Mineralization was encountered from near surface to vertical depths exceeding 400 metres. Osisko aims to become an intermediate gold producer by advancing its flagship permitted 100%-owned Cariboo Gold Project. The Cariboo project is located in the historic Wells-Barkerville mining camp and consists of three different sites, including the Mine Site Complex near the District of Wells, the Bonanza Ledge site and the QR Mill. Probable mineral reserves currently stand at 2.07 million ounces of contained gold (17.8 million tonnes of grade 3.62 g/t gold). On top of that is an indicated resource of 1.6 million ounces, plus an inferred resource of 1.86 million ounces.
