Steve Kerr Officially Signs New Coaching Contract with Warriors
Kerr’s new deal follows a 37-45 season and gives Golden State continuity after injuries derailed its playoff push.
On Tuesday, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr signed a two-year contract extension to remain with the franchise, ending months of uncertainty about his future after 12 successful seasons.
Uncertainty had surrounded Kerr's status following his contract expiration after the 2025-26 season, prompting owner Joe Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy to meet with him at Chase Center and agree on terms.
Kerr will reportedly earn $17.5 million over the two-year deal, having turned down a seven-figure ESPN analyst offer to remain with the club where he holds a 604-353 career record.
ESPN insider Anthony Slater reported that franchise superstar Stephen Curry played a major role in Kerr's return, with both sides committed to guiding the current era in a dignified way.
The Warriors will have Kerr for a 13th season as they approach the NBA draft, though he must navigate injuries to forward Jimmy Butler and guard Moses Moody after the team missed the playoffs last month.
