Stepdad jailed for killing partner's five-month-old baby after argument with his ex-girlfriend
Morgan was jailed for life with a minimum of 19 years after shaking Jensen-Lee, causing fatal brain and spinal injuries during a rage-fueled assault, the court heard.
On Wednesday, February 25, Mrs Justice Stacey sentenced Thomas Morgan to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 19 years after his conviction for murdering five-month-old Jensen-Lee Dougal.
On Wednesday, February 25, Morgan was left alone with the baby during a heated 90-minute abusive text exchange with Georgia Griffiths, prosecutors said.
Medical experts told the jury that scans showed catastrophic brain, spinal, and retinal bleeding, as well as multiple rib fractures, akin to injuries from high-velocity collisions.
Neighbours called 999 and paramedics spent 45 minutes performing CPR, re-establishing a pulse before Jensen-Lee was taken to a specialist unit, and he died the next day in his mother's arms, according to statements 54, 55, 7, 131.
Detective Chief Inspector Lianne Rees said the sentence brings justice for a defenceless baby boy and paid tribute to emergency and investigation teams, while NSPCC Cymru called the assault a brutal attack.
