Foreign Ministry Secretary General Jonatan Vseviov said in an interview with "Aktuaalne kaamaera" that no one should feel sad about the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, as he was an illegitimate head of state. However, Vseviov believes that it is important that international law is followed, as this gives countries a chance for stability.
Maduro lacks legitimacy as president of Venezuela, says Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard. She is supported by S leader Magdalena Andersson, who also believes that this does not justify the US's actions.
The European Union is closely monitoring developments in Venezuela and reiterates the need for respect for international law and restraint. This was stated by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaia Kallas.
