Steelers Coach Mike McCarthy Limps Into Injury Tent at Halftime of Buccaneers Game
- On Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy suffered an ankle injury during the Week 6 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, spending halftime in the blue medical tent instead of joining his team in the locker room.
- McCarthy appeared to twist his ankle while leaving the field at Raymond James Stadium at the end of the first half, limping heavily and requiring assistance from a Steelers staff member to reach the medical tent for treatment.
- The injury occurred during a difficult first half where Pittsburgh struggled to find offensive rhythm, trailing 13-3 at the break after losses to the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns earlier this season.
- Returning to the sideline for the second half, the head coach resumed his duties with his playsheet in hand, and his offense rallied from the halftime deficit to tie the game late against Tampa Bay.
- Team personnel will monitor McCarthy's condition as the game progresses, while Pittsburgh's offense navigates multiple injuries to key players Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson already sidelined this season.
