More than 70,000 homes lost power amid extreme fire conditions as Victoria battles multiple fast-moving bushfires with ongoing emergency warnings and evacuations.
- On Friday, Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan declared a State of Disaster to confront an emergency of extraordinary scale as fires destroyed at least 10 homes and three emergency-level blazes keep large areas at highest danger.

- About 70,000 homes and businesses lost power amid catastrophic conditions and high winds, while the Longwood fire burned more than 35,000 hectares and the Walwa fire over 17,000, with a firefighter hospitalised and properties lost in Ruffy.
- Three residents from Longwood East remain unaccounted for after sheltering was advised by the CFA on Thursday, with their house destroyed and crews unable to enter the hot spot, Victoria Police deputy commissioner Bob Hill said.
- CFA chief Jason Heffernan warned Friday the Longwood fire remained largest with emergency orders for towns in Melbourne’s north, winds may shift, and early Saturday fires reached emergency level under a total fire ban.
