Israeli Soldier Killed by Hezbollah Mortar Fire Near the Litani River
Combat medics tried to save the 20-year-old Golani Brigade soldier, and the IDF said he was posthumously promoted to staff sergeant.
Staff Sergeant Negev Dagan, 20, of the Golani Brigade's 12th Battalion, was killed in southern Lebanon on Thursday night.
Hezbollah terrorists fired an anti-tank guided missile near Dagan's unit operating near the Litani River at approximately 10 p.m., Army Radio's Doron Kadosh reported.
Combat medics attempted to provide medical treatment at the scene but were forced to declare Dagan dead after their efforts proved unsuccessful.
A civilian contractor was also killed in the incident, and the IDF posthumously promoted Dagan from Sergeant to Staff Sergeant.
Dagan is the sixth IDF soldier killed in southern Lebanon since the ceasefire and the nineteenth since hostilities escalated amid the Iran war.
