Spotify down for thousands of users, Downdetector shows

Spotify acknowledged a widespread outage on Monday after Downdetector recorded a major spike in complaints shortly after 9am ET, and the company said the issue was fixed at 10:35am ET.
Escalating user reports indicated symptoms pointed to a server-related issue, with complaints rising from a few hundred to more than 3,000 then past 13,000 within minutes on Monday, Downdetector showed.
Many users reported they couldn't search, stream or log in while offline-downloaded music and audiobooks still played, and a Downdetector user said, 'Can’t search anything on Spotify, tried using data and my internet and it’s just not working'.
Shares of Spotify fell 2.4 per cent in morning trading, while affected users were advised to try Apple Music, available for $10.99 per month.
Downdetector's data suggest more than 10,000 issue reports triggered real-time detection using social and web indicators, and news outlets pledged to continue reporting updates.
