Tuchel Names England World Cup Squad as Alexander-Arnold Misses Out
Thomas Tuchel left out Trent Alexander-Arnold and several other high-profile players as England named its 26-man World Cup squad.
England manager Thomas Tuchel announced his 26-man World Cup squad, notably excluding former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold from the tournament hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Tuchel cited a "slightly different game model" built on intensity for the decision, having previously omitted Alexander-Arnold from the 35-man squad during the March international break.
The manager also omitted high-profile stars including Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, Chelsea forward Cole Palmer, and Manchester City playmaker Phil Foden, with some fans calling exclusions "disgraceful" on social media.
While no current Liverpool players made the cut, former Reds Jarell Quansah and Jordan Henderson earned spots on the plane to represent the Three Lions.
England will face New Zealand and Costa Rica in friendly matches next month before competing against Ghana, Panama, and Croatia in the World Cup group stages.
