Sunflower County supervisors have called a special election Nov. 3 to fill a vacancy on the Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee Board created by the resignation of Commissioner Lewis Douglas, who stepped down in January 2026 after winning re-election in 2024. The winner will serve the remainder of Douglas’ term, which runs through Dec. 31, 2028.
