Tibetans will celebrate the New Year – Losar – on Wednesday at Tibet Square in Užupis. According to the Tibetan calendar, this day will begin 2153, the year of the Fire Horse. On the occasion of the New Year, an ice sculpture will traditionally be built in Tibet Square, new prayer flags will be changed, a bonfire will be lit and tea will be served. The Tibetan New Year has been celebrated in Vilnius’ Tibet Square for more than a decade.
