Spanish police have discovered 472 exotic animals west of Madrid, likely victims of illegal trafficking. The animals, including leopard tortoises, iguanas, tarantulas, Nile monitors, and geckos, were being held at a shelter run by an organization that was raising funds from donors through social media.
The Civil Guard has investigated four persons for their alleged membership in a criminal organization dedicated to the illegal trafficking of exotic animals, in the framework of the operation ‘Suartx’, in the town of Burgohondo (Ávila).
