Spain Breaks Tourism Record: 58.1 Million Visitors by July
Tourism spending climbed 7.8% to €82.05 billion as Spain drew 58.1 million visitors, with Catalonia the top destination, INE figures showed.
- Spain welcomed 58.1 million international tourists between January and July 2026, a 4.6% increase from the same period last year. Tourism spending hit an all-time high of €82.05 billion, up 7.8%.
- The United Kingdom and France remained top source markets with 11.5 million and 7.2 million visitors respectively. Arrivals from the UK increased 4.6%, while France saw a 1.2% rise and German tourism dipped 0.5%.
- Andalusia received 9.02 million tourists, an 8.2% year-on-year increase, while the Balearic Islands recorded 9.16 million visitors, up 1.8%. The Canary Islands saw 9.02 million arrivals, down 0.6%.
- Madrid and the Valencian Community recorded the strongest growth among major destinations, with increases of 9.6% and 8.9% respectively. In July, the Valencian Community received 1.63 million visitors, a 9.5% rise.
- Accommodation accounted for 19.8% of total spending, followed by package tours at 19.3% and international transport at 19.2%. The most common length of stay was seven nights, with 5.7 million travelers, an 8.7% increase.
