Samajwadi Party Changes 2 MLC Candidates in Uttar Pradesh; Fields Akash Agrawal, Sanjay Tripathi
Akhilesh Yadav said the party changed both nominees with their consent and expressed confidence that they will win the council polls.
On Saturday, the Samajwadi Party replaced its candidates for the Agra and Gorakhpur-Faizabad teachers' constituencies, announcing Akash Agarwal and Sanjayan Tripathi as new nominees for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections.
Elections for five graduates' and six teachers' constituencies are scheduled for October 23, with counting on October 27 to fill seats expiring December 6, including six currently held by the Bharatiya Janata Party .
SP President Akhilesh Yadav stated, "We have decided with the consent and co-operation of the two colleagues who were the former SP candidates," expressing gratitude to them for their cooperation.
Akhilesh alleged the education system collapsed with the "maximum number of paper leak incidents in the past 10 years" and claimed BJP members engaged in "rampant discrimination during voter registration."
The SP seeks to recalibrate regional and social equations through the candidate reshuffle, planning to include demands regarding unfunded teachers and pension schemes in its 2027 Assembly elections manifesto.
