- Around 1 a.m., the driver took an unfamiliar route to a remote, poorly illuminated location and insisted that Soyinka enter his PIN on a concealed POS device, leading to a stressful standoff that lasted approximately 25 to 30 minutes.
- Soyinka described the experience as being forcibly taken, having his belongings stolen, and left in an unfamiliar location, highlighting that the event was an attack on the whole community rather than solely on him.
- The driver eventually left Soyinka near his hotel after forcibly obtaining his bank details, and the Sibiu Festival has not issued any statement regarding the situation.
