Plane passengers race into shelters as tornado hits airfield

A powerful weather system has been moving across the country, bringing an elevated threat of severe storms to Nebraska and Iowa.

Southwest Iowa Under Tornado Watch

(Des Moines) The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Watch for all of southwest Iowa until midnight. Thunderstorms are likely between now and 5:00 p.m. this evening, with a 15-40 percent chance of severe storms. The primary threat will be large hail, a few damaging winds gust, and a tornado cannot be ruled out. The best chance for storms is along the and north of Interstate 80.
