Southeastern Grocers transitions to The Winn-Dixie Company, sells stores outside Florida
Southeastern Grocers will operate about 130 grocery and 140 liquor stores in Florida and southern Georgia after rebranding as The Winn-Dixie Company in early 2026.
Tuesday, Jacksonville-based Southeastern Grocers LLC announced it will rebrand as The Winn-Dixie Company next year and refocus on Florida, uniting its stores under one iconic brand.
Less than a year after the Hucker-led buyout on Feb. 7, 2025, Southeastern Grocers LLC plans to relocate its headquarters within Jacksonville, Florida, reflecting a return to its Florida roots, Anthony Hucker, Chairman and CEO, said.
SEG confirmed specific transition deals involving 32 Winn-Dixie stores and eight Harveys Supermarkets, with seven already added to Piggly Wiggly, Food City and Super 1 Foods.
The company said employees at affected stores will have opportunities to continue serving customers under new Winn-Dixie locations, and store closings are expected by year-end with banner transitions by early 2026.
Customers can expect refreshed branding and remodeled stores in early 2026, plus the return of Lip Lickin' Chicken and new online services, a move industry observers say could reshape Florida's grocery market.
