South Ripley Food Services Recognized

(Photo Courtesy: South Ripley Community Schools) (Versailles, IN) – Food Service Director Farrah McCracken and her cafeteria staff were recognized at this week’s South Ripley School Board meeting for serving more than 25,000 meals to students in the district as part of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). It’s a federally-funded initiative aimed at providing nutritious meals to students when school is not in session. SFSP has operated in Indiana for nearly 50 years, and has provided meals at over 1,000 locations across the state, including schools, parks, churches and community centers. “It’s the first summer we’ve ever participated in this,” Superintendent Rob Moorhead said on WRBI’s The Daily Pod. “We’re just very excited to provide this outstanding community service for our students.” SFSP is designed for children age 18 and under, particularly those from low-income families. There is no need to apply for the food; families can simply visit designated sites to receive meals.
