South Korea’s President Lee to Visit France for Summit, Film Discussion with Macron
Lee and Macron will announce a 500 million euro film investment plan as they seek to support local content and joint production projects.
- South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is concluding a four-day state visit to France on Wednesday after holding summit talks with French President Emmanuel Macron to deepen bilateral cooperation in security, the economy, and culture.
- On Monday, Lee and Macron co-chaired the Lumiere Summit in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, where they announced a joint 500 million euro initiative to invest in the global film industry over five years starting in 2027.
- The trip marks the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, further fleshing out the 'global strategic partnership' forged during Macron's April visit to Seoul.
- Lee attended a business roundtable with 20 companies on Tuesday and is scheduled to meet parliamentary speaker Yael Braun-Pivet and OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann before departing Wednesday.
- During a state dinner Tuesday at the Elysee Palace, Macron conferred the Grand Cross, the Legion of Honour's highest rank, upon Lee in recognition of his contributions to bilateral ties.
