South Korea avert boycott of Women's Asian Cup weeks before kickoff
South Korea's Football Association will provide business-class travel for women's team on long-haul trips after resolving boycott threats over unequal conditions.
- On Tuesday, the Korea Football Association announced the boycott dispute was resolved and named a 26-player squad for the Women's Asian Cup held in Australia.
- Players had earlier complained last year that the national women's squad faced `poor` treatment by the Korea Football Association and warned in a September statement made public in January of a boycott over travel, training facilities and accommodation.
- Drawn into a first-round group, South Korea's squad includes Ji So-yun, Casey Phair, and eight overseas players, opening against Iran on March 2 at Gold Coast.
- The Korea Football Association committed to providing business-class travel for all women's team squad members on long-haul trips and to `strengthen a sustainable support system that allows the players to perform at their best` starting this year.
- On Sunday, the squad will convene at South Korea's national training centre and depart for Australia four days later to prepare for the tournament.
