South Africa paceman Nortje ruled out of third test
South Africa have not named a replacement, leaving the hosts to reshuffle their pace attack for the series decider.
On Saturday, Cricket South Africa announced that fast bowler Anrich Nortje is ruled out of the third Test against Australia after sustaining a groin injury during the second Test in Gqeberha.
The 32-year-old pacer suffered the injury early in the second Test, pulling up in his fourth over during Australia's first innings and taking no further part in South Africa's innings-and-31-run victory on Thursday.
South Africa named a 16-member squad for the Newlands decider, where Corbin Bosch, Gerald Coetzee, and Dane Paterson are available to fill the vacancy if the team continues with a four-pronged seam attack.
Captain Temba Bavuma must decide on the pace combination before the third Test starts on Tuesday at Newlands, with no replacement yet named for the injured fast bowler.
The match in Cape Town concludes the ICC World Test Championship cycle with the series level at 1-1 after South Africa's second-Test victory, following Australia's opening win in Durban.
