Snuneymuxw Purchase of River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond Finalized

- On Tuesday, Snuneymuxw First Nation finalized the purchase of River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond through Petroglyph Development Group Ltd., establishing the Nation as Canada's largest First Nation-owned casino operator.
- Chief Mike Wyse first announced purchase plans last October, marking the Nation's fifth casino acquisition since 2024. Previous purchases from Great Canadian Entertainment include Casino Nanaimo, Elements Casino Victoria, Chances Maple Ridge, and Great Canadian Casino Vancouver.
- The Richmond resort features more than 1,200 slot machines, over 80 live table games, and nearly 400 hotel rooms. Lahal Casino Management, a subsidiary of Petroglyph Development Group, will manage operations across 10 food and beverage venues.
- Snuneymuxw completed a partnership with the Musqueam Indian Band to share ownership, with Snuneymuxw holding majority interest. Chief Wyse stated this starts a "new chapter" on Musqueam Indian Band territory, marking a historic day for the industry.
- Matt Anfinson, CEO of Great Canadian Entertainment, expressed "full confidence" in the collective leadership's long-term vision. The acquisition reflects generations of work by the Snuneymuxw to build economic self-determination across British Columbia.
