These are some of the indicators contained in the QGR of the National Health Service (SNS) for the triennium 2026-2028, today published in Diário da República, and which establishes strategic and financial guidelines for local health units (ULS) during this period.
The SNS strategic framework document published this Friday foresees that the percentage of users with family physician assigned is always 85.37% until 2028, the same as in 2024.
The order shall take effect on 1 January of this year.
The coverage of the population by family doctors should remain unchanged in the coming years, setting itself at 85.3% until 2028. The government also expects that the number of surgeries will increase from about 799 thousand in 2026 to almost 832,000 in 2028 and that emergency care will fall from 4.5 million to 4.2 million in the same period.
Who expects a family doctor does not find great reason for optimism in the government plan for the next three years. The SNS plans to maintain at 85.37% the percentage of users with a doctor assigned in 2026, 2027 and 2028, exactly the same level recorded in 2024. The content Without a family doctor now?
