The former alpine snowboarder Alexandra Krings died at the age of 51. Sports State Secretary Michaela Schmidt mourned on Thursday in a condolence letter the "far too early" demise of a "snowboard pioneer". The Salzburgerin Krings became third of the Riesentorlauf overall ranking in the World Cup premiere season 1994/95, won a world cup until the end of the career in 1999 and landed nine times on the podium.
