Watch Paul McCartney Close Out ‘SNL’ with Surprise Performance of 'Coming Up'
McCartney returned during cast goodnights for a third performance, leading the band through “Coming Up” as the cast danced onstage.
On Saturday, The Beatles musician Paul McCartney closed out the 51st season of Saturday Night Live as the musical guest, performing three times throughout the show.
McCartney performed "Band on the Run" and "Days We Left Behind" from his upcoming album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, marking his first regular season appearance in 14 years.
Alongside host Will Ferrell and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, the musician participated in comedic sketches with cast members Ashley Padilla and Mikey Day.
During the cast goodnights, McCartney corralled the band for a final encore performance of "Coming Up," the opening track from his 1980 album McCartney II.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the keyboardist reflected on his songwriting, stating, "It's just a lot of memories of Liverpool…We didn't have much at all.
