The decline in legal tobacco sales continued in 2025 in France, noted this Wednesday the French Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Addictive Trends, in a context of smoking at "more and more low levels".
According to the French Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Addictive Trends, tobacco sales in the Buralist networks have decreased by 8.2% compared to 2024. French, and especially young people, smoke less - even though the use of electronic cigarettes continues to increase.
While the consumption of traditional cigarettes continues to decline in France, sales of other tobacco products, such as rolling tobacco or cigarillos, are experiencing a notable increase, indicating a change in smokers' habits.
