PEMBROKE PINES, BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, JUL 14 – Pembroke Pines Mayor Angelo Castillo demands a safety investigation at North Perry Airport after more than 36 crashes in five years, following a plane crash injuring four with minor wounds.
- A small Cessna T337G crashed into a Pembroke Pines neighborhood near North Perry Airport on Sunday evening, hospitalizing four people with minor injuries.
- The plane, which was approaching the airport about a mile short of the runway, came from Turks and Caicos for reasons that remain unknown while the NTSB investigates.
- Neighbors reported hearing a loud boom and saw smoke, with some immediately aiding by using a fire extinguisher and breaking windows to rescue occupants including a trapped mother.
- Pembroke Pines Police reported that the pilot and three passengers safely exited the aircraft and were transported to Memorial Hospital, where one individual was categorized as Trauma Level 1 and the other three as Level 2.
- Mayor Angelo Castillo called on the Broward County Commission to conduct a full safety investigation at North Perry Airport, citing over 35 crashes in five years and stating, "The time has run out on our patience.
