Showdown in St. Louis: Tigers, Billikens Bring Historic Rivalry Back to Life
The teams will meet for the first time in 25 years as both programs look to strengthen NCAA Tournament resumes.
Missouri and Saint Louis University announced Monday they will renew their basketball rivalry with a three-game series at Enterprise Center, beginning Nov. 6.
The programs have not faced each other in 25 years, last meeting on Dec. 3, 2001, when Missouri defeated SLU 69-67 at Enterprise Center on Wesley Stokes' game-winner.
Missouri coach Dennis Gates and SLU coach Josh Schertz expressed enthusiasm for the series, with Schertz calling it "a win for both basketball programs" and fans across the region.
Enterprise Center will host all three games, with the first matchup on Nov. 6 and subsequent contests scheduled for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
As the NCAA Tournament expands to 76 teams next year, securing quality nonconference opponents becomes increasingly vital for teams building strong postseason resumes.
