The Slovenian government on Thursday initiated the procedure for the recognition of a Palestinian state as a form of leverage to end the conflict in Gaza, a move it announced in March.
The government has today initiated procedures for recognizing Palestine, which according to Prime Minister Robert Golob represents an opportunity for pressure to end the battles in Gaza. The opposition, on the other hand, believes that recognition will not contribute to calming tensions in the Middle East. The deadline by which the government should forward the decision to the parliament is June 13.
The Slovenian government will initiate the procedure for recognizing the Palestinian state, with the aim of helping to stop the war in the Middle East, said Prime Minister Robert Golob on Thursday at a press conference in Ljubljana.
