Prime Minister Robert Golob, together with five ministers, will present the country's renewed defense and security policy this afternoon.

The Serbian news agency Tanjug, quoting STA, reported that Slovenia will allocate two percent of its GDP to defense and security policy this year. The new defense and security policy for Slovenia's greater resilience includes the Slovenian Armed Forces' capability goals and a plan to increase defense spending until 2040. This was also reported by the Austrian APA.

The government's announcement of an increase in defense spending is expected and inevitable, defense experts Jelena Juvan and Maja Garb told STA. The geopolitical situation is tense, and Slovenia lags behind NATO members in defense spending. They believe that investments should be made in personnel and battalion groups, and that some of the defense money can be used for civilian purposes.
