The renaming honors Nipsey Hussle’s legacy in entrepreneurship and community empowerment at the family-owned plaza housing The Marathon store and Neighborhood Nip Foundation.
- On Saturday, February 28, Los Angeles will officially rename Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue Nipsey Hussle Square with a sign ceremony at 10 a.m.
- Rooted in local ownership, the plaza houses the Neighborhood Nip Foundation, reflecting Nipsey Hussle's vision of community and empowerment in South Los Angeles.
- Guests will include Blacc Sam, Nipsey Hussle's brother and CEO of The Marathon brand, Los Angeles City Council President Marqueece Harris‑Dawson, Councilmember Heather Hutt and California State Assemblymember Isaac Bryan.
- By making the change, Los Angeles formalizes what culture has long declared about the Marathon's continuity, following last summer's temporary renaming of the nearby Hyde Park Metro station.
- Looking ahead, Nipsey Hussle's posthumous album will arrive more than six years after his 2019 killing, while Marathon Clothing announced a collaboration with Bino Rideaux.
