Skullcandy and Bose reunite for a headphone full of firsts
The $279.99 headphones add Bose noise canceling, spatial audio and a 60-hour battery as Skullcandy tries to improve its audio reputation.
On Wednesday in New York City, Skullcandy unveiled the Crusher 1080 ANC wireless headphones, marking the brand's deepest integration of Bose audio technologies to date.
Seeking to shed its reputation as a lifestyle-focused brand, Skullcandy has spent the past year prioritizing engineering improvements and expanding its partnership with Bose.
The $279.99 headphones feature Bose's QuietControl adaptive noise cancellation and TrueSpatial audio, with a stiffer diaphragm material designed to reduce distortion while maintaining the signature haptic bass.
Offering 50 hours of battery life with noise cancellation active, the headset supports Bluetooth 5.3 and Auracast, positioning Skullcandy against premium rivals like Sony and Sennheiser.
Skullcandy CEO Brian Garofalow described the experience as "akin to standing front row at your favorite concert," signaling the company's intent to capture a more audiophile-focused audience.
