Skeletons may also have been moved in search of stolen goods
Following the forced opening of 13 crypts in the municipal cemetery in Korneuburg, police conducted inspections. With the owners' consent, twelve of the graves were examined. Investigators believe that approximately 40 coffins were damaged, police spokeswoman Manuela Weinkirn said on Tuesday in response to an inquiry. In some cases, skeletons had been moved by the head area – apparently in a search for stolen goods such as gold teeth.
