With the earlier arrest of Purnekar's aide turned rival Pappya Shinde, a total of three persons have been arrested in the case so far. Two more accused are currently on the run.

Two additional suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of Shiv Sena division chief Pradeep Purnekar. Nikhil Yadav and Nitesh Pawar were apprehended near Alibag while attempting to flee towards Goa. The police are investigating the motive behind the murder and the involvement of other suspects. A Special Investigation Team has been formed to conduct a detailed probe into the case.

SIT Formed To Probe Shiv Sena Leader Pradeep Purnekar's Murder

Thane police have established a 23-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the murder of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Pradeep Purnekar. Purnekar was shot and stabbed on Tuesday night and later succumbed to his injuries. One arrest has been made, and two vehicles seized, with police investigating all angles under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act.

Thane Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbre constituted an SIT led by Amarsinh Jadhav, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch). It also includes two Assistant Commissioners of Police, three senior inspectors, six assistant inspectors, three sub-inspectors and eight police constables, to ensure a thorough investigation into the high-profile killing.
