It was learned on the 9th that Koji Sakai (50) of the Liberal Democratic Party is expected to be elected as the speaker of the Naha City Council's extraordinary session to be held on the 12th. A total of four candidates from within the LDP had emerged, but by the 7th the ruling party group "Naha Liberal Democratic Party/Independents Association" (10 members) had decided to support Sakai. The city council has 40 seats.
