Singapore Airlines Unveils S$2 Billion Cabin Upgrade with New First Class Double Beds, Business Class Seats with Privacy Doors
On Friday, Singapore Airlines unveiled its next-generation long-haul cabin products, featuring new first-class suites with sliding doors, redesigned business-class seats, and upgraded premium economy and economy cabins across all four classes.
Industry-Wide supply chain constraints and certification delays postponed service entry of new Boeing 777-9 planes and retrofitted A350-900 aircraft to the second half of 2027, despite SIA's $2 billion investment in cabin upgrades.
First-Class passengers access the largest double bed in commercial aviation measuring 80 inches long and 60 inches wide, while business-class seats feature sliding doors and custom-designed Christofle serviceware, complemented by refreshed 4K entertainment systems and new "SIA Chefs' Selection" dining.
Progressively introducing these new products from the second half of 2027, SIA will retrofit 41 Airbus A350-900 jets and equip its new Boeing 777-9 fleet, with rollout completion targeted for the end of 2030 to strengthen competitive positioning.
Beyond seat upgrades, SIA invested more than $130 million to renovate its SilverKris lounges worldwide, delivering an "end to end" travel experience beginning at the curb at Singapore Changi Airport for suites and first-class passengers.
