Scarborough Open Air Theatre Announces Headline Summer 2027 Show From Huge Band
Soul II Soul will join Simply Red for the Summer Funk 27 stop, with tickets going on sale at 10am on Thursday, September 24.
- Simply Red will headline Scarborough OAT on Tuesday August 17, 2027, for their Summer Funk 27 tour, joined by UK soul and funk legends Soul II Soul. The performance marks the band's third headline show at the Yorkshire venue.
- Julian Murray of promoters Cuffe and Taylor said the band are "one of Britain's most enduring bands," noting their previous Scarborough OAT headline shows in 2016 and 2022. The 2026 season attracted gig-goers from 64 countries.
- Frontman Mick Hucknall leads the ensemble including Ian Kirkham, Kenji Suzuki, Kevin Robinson, Roman Roth, Gary Sanctuary, and Orefo Orakwue. Summer Funk 27 marks the band's first tour since their 2025 40th anniversary celebration.
