Shuswap RCMP respond to erratic driver, possible fight with passenger
Police say the driver failed two breath tests and his truck was impounded for 30 days after an erratic-driving report on Highway 1.
On May 10, Chase RCMP received a report of an erratic driver heading west on Highway 1 at approximately 7:30 p.m. in a lifted white pickup truck with an Alberta plate.
A caller reported the driver and passenger appeared to be involved in a physical altercation, prompting police to locate the truck near Chase and conduct a traffic stop.
Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg detected a strong odour of liquor on the driver's breath and administered a breath demand, with both samples resulting in fail readings.
The 31-year-old Kamloops man received a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, and his truck was impounded for 30 days.
Both the driver and passenger denied any physical altercation had taken place, Van Wilgenburg added, contradicting the initial caller's report.
