SHREVEPORT, La. - This year is a milestone year for Shreveport. July 1, 2025 marks 190 years since the signing of the Caddo Treaty.

Shreveport DDA honors 190 years of Caddo Treaty legacy

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS)- The Shreveport DDA celebrated downtown's legacy on the 190th anniversary of the Caddo Indian Treaty signing, also know as the Treaty of Cession. It was signed on July 1, 1835, by the Caddo Nation and the United States. In the deal, the U.S. got one million acres of land, which includes present-day Caddo Parish and Miller County, Arkansas.
