Shoppers warned 'do not eat' sauce sold at Tesco and Sainsbury's due to recall
The 285g jar contains undeclared barley and mustard, and the Food Standards Agency says it may pose a health risk to people with allergies or coeliac disease.
On Friday, July 3, 2026, Capsicana recalled its Easy Going Mild Salsa sold at Tesco, Sainsbury, Morrisons, and Ocado due to undeclared barley and mustard, the Food Standards Agency announced.
The affected 285g jar with batch code 6091 and a May 2027 best before date poses a health risk for anyone with mustard or barley allergies or coeliac disease, the FSA says.
Customers can return the salsa to any store for a full refund without a receipt; Capsicana confirmed no other products are affected and provided consumer care at 0800 0195 617.
The Food Standards Agency issued a "Food Alert for Action" providing local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers regarding store shelf removal.
Recalls occur when a product should not be sold, requiring items to be "withdrawn" from shelves or "recalled" when customers are asked to return them, keeping the public informed about food safety concerns.
