Prolific shoplifter who stole £4k in products banned from every Boots store

Prolific shoplifters received Criminal Behaviour Orders banning them from major retailers after stealing thousands of pounds, with Essex Police solving 971 more thefts in 12 months.

  • Between 7 May and 25 June, Michael Hayes, 35, pleaded guilty to 10 thefts at the Moorgate Boots and received a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from the Square Mile and all Boots stores.
  • Police said the City of London sentencing coincided with Safer Business Action Week, while Essex Police reported officers solved 971 more shop thefts in the 12 months to September 30 2025.
  • Adams' ban runs until 28 May 2026, the court ordered nine charges to lie on file, and the public is asked to report breaches by calling 101 or using the police online reporting service.
