Since the March 31, 2024 local elections, 40 mayors have been arrested in operations targeting CHP-led municipalities. In Istanbul alone, 13 district mayors are currently imprisoned, and due to party changes and dismissals, only 6 of the 14 CHP-led municipalities in 30 metropolitan areas remain under CHP control.

Following the local elections of March 31, 2024, numerous mayors affiliated with the CHP (Republican People's Party) were arrested, removed from office, or had trustees appointed to their municipalities in investigations and operations targeting these municipalities.
