Ships and planes carried half a million passengers last year

Ships and aircraft transported almost half a million people to and from Faroe Islands last year, writes Statistics Iceland. Last year there were 494,635 tourists. They were 478,165 in 2023. In 2020, when the coronavirus hit, the number was all the way down to 202,280. The number of tourists has increased significantly. For example, it was 54,788 in 1975.
