2,600-Acre Brush Fire Spreads Across U.S.-Mexico Border Into San Diego
Cal Fire said 4 helicopters, 10 engines and 4 water tenders were assigned as the blaze remained 0% contained.
The Border6Fire, which ignited Monday near Dulzura, has charred approximately 742 acres in the United States and 520 acres in Mexico after crossing the Tijuana River.
Cal Fire crews are battling the blaze in remote, rugged terrain southeast of San Diego, where the fire remains 0% contained as of Tuesday evening.
Officials issued evacuation warnings for zones SDC-2544 and SDC-2645, with The Temporary Evacuation Point established at the Regal Edwards Rancho San Diego parking lot.
According to the San Diego Sheriff, residents requiring extra time to evacuate or those with pets were advised to leave immediately.
Firefighters continue utilizing air tankers and helicopters in the difficult landscape, though the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
