Seven killed, 20 injured in truck-pickup collision in Gujarat’s Kutch

  • On Friday, seven workers died and 22 were injured when a truck and Bolero Camper collided head-on inside the Renewable Energy Park in Kutch, Gujarat, police said.
  • The collision occurred between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. near Khavda, about 30 km from the India-Pakistan Border; due to the impact, one vehicle toppled over the other.
  • Following the incident, Police separated the two vehicles using a crane and retrieved the bodies; they then shifted the injured to General Hospital in Bhuj, about 136 km away.
  • Kutch West Superintendent of Police Vikas Sunday said the incident took place on the road heading into the Park, and Police have registered a case to investigate potential negligence.
  • Police personnel posted at the Park arranged for a crane to separate the vehicles and are examining potential negligence that caused the crash at the sprawling clean energy installation.
