Senior leaders of Edmonton-based infantry battalion reinstated after investigation
National Defence said a thorough review restored Lt.-Col. Jason Hudson and Chief Warrant Officer Kim Doerr to command after their removal pending investigation.
On Friday, the Department of National Defence reinstated Commanding Officer Lieutenant-Colonel Jason Hudson and Chief Warrant Officer Kim Doerr to lead the 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry following a thorough investigation.
Earlier this week, the department announced the removal of Hudson and Doerr pending investigation, though National Defence spokesman Dan Blouin provided no insight into the original decision.
Lieutenant-General Michael Wright, Commander of the Canadian Army, authorized the return after a thorough review, stating senior leadership have confidence in Hudson and Doerr's ability to continue leading the unit.
Appropriate disciplinary measures are being taken in accordance with established policies, Blouin noted, though National Defence has not disclosed details about the incident itself.
The PPCLI, founded in 1914, deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, in 2002 and earned a Presidential Unit Citation for its stand at Kapyong during the Korean War in 1951.
