Kidderminster Man Jailed After Infecting Woman with HIV
Luke Davis was sentenced to four and a half years for recklessly transmitting HIV by stopping treatment and not disclosing his status, causing lifelong harm to his victim.
- On Monday, January 12, 2026, Luke Davis, aged 31, was sentenced at Hereford Justice Centre and jailed for four years and six months for recklessly transmitting HIV to the complainant.
- First tested positive in August 2017, Davis began treatment in January 2018 but last attended clinic appointments on September 18, 2018, stopped medication deliveries after September 2019, and told a social worker in 2021 he had stopped taking medication.
- The complainant told the court `Living with HIV has drastically affected my physical health and my everyday life` and Giovanni D’Alessandro, senior Crown prosecutor at the Crown Prosecution Service, said Davis caused irreparable damage.
- The judge rejected parts of the defence mitigation, citing disengagement from treatment, late remorse, selfish choices, and telling Davis, `You behaved utterly irresponsibly`, His Honour Judge Jackson said.
- He was found guilty by a jury on October 27, 2025, and the Crown Prosecution Service said it hoped the sentence would provide some measure of justice and dissuade others.
